Oppressed by Privilege / Privileged by Oppression

Oppressed by Privilege / Privileged by Oppression are the names of the two bands performing – simultaneously. The names of the two bands are concept, as previous to any rehearsals the public was invited by an open call to submit texts in response to the respective band names. The two bands used the submissions as the raw material to adapt and interpret musically and later present the results on stage for the first time in June 2017 at Ausstellungsraum Klingental during the Art Fair in Basel.

The riot of the privileged took place a second and last time in February 2018 at Kunsthalle Basel, framed by the exhibition New Swiss Performance Now and the record release. This event marked the end of the bands but their voices will remain on a clear piece of vinyl.
