«The world isn’t beautiful, one almost wishes for the cyanide. But it is always better to listen to this great album aloud, because a healthy dose of asbestos has rarely done so much good.» Artnoir
«In many moments it is hardly believable that only three people are responsible for this force.» Krachfink
«Great album!» Schafe Schuesse – 10/10
«In theatrical and forceful speech Robyn Trachsel offers cyanide for breakfast to conquer expectations or insecurity and self-doubt.» Underdog Fanzine
«Noise-Rock with important contents and loud sounds.» Musikbüro Basel
With existentialist lyrics inspired by the Frankfurt school, Robyn Trachsel, guitarist and vocalist of Asbest, breaks down complex issues into simple words and slogans. «Valium for the masses» – an oxymoron and a common populist tool. Asbest are trying to do the opposite: use their music and their message as a wake-up call and present a new perspective on entrenched opinions and ideas.
With «Cyanide», Asbest (Robyn Trachsel, vocals/guitar, Judith Breitinger, bass/vocals and Jonas Häne, drums) have created a safe space protected from assault, where heavy music inspires you to reflect and scream along.
«By presenting our perspectives to other people through music, touching them and making them think, we can effect small changes and perhaps make the world a better place. It’s clear that we need more people who identify as female, lesbian, intersex, nonbinary or trans* on stage. We like to think of ourselves as role models in that respect.» – Asbest
With «Cyanide», Asbest stay true to their mix of post-punk, shoegaze and noise rock, recorded with a delicate touch at Milberg Studios, Stuttgart, by Ralv Milberg (Die Nerven, Human Abfall).
